Daddy Bear Mermaid
During my MFA program I made digital patterns from images I gathered and photos I took. I would print the pattern on fabric (usually cotton) then use the fabric to make clothing. This gown was made specifically for a model that performed at my MFA show opening in 2015. There were two models that did gestures for about 25ish minutes. They modeled/gestured in an installation I created with furniture objects, tv monitors, wigs, and I painted the background wall. They perform as Kico and Kico was yearning for a daddy. I came into the work as this animal daddy and the performers and I gestured love and affection together. Daddy was/is found in/by/through my practice, my work, myself. #daddyissues
