In 2022 I ventured into starting my own business, Kico Le Strange, and “Neon tartan” was my first collection. The collection was inspired by a photo of me when I was 5 or 6. My mom dressed me in some neon blue Bugle Boy shorts and a faded plaid shirt. I recall reflecting on this image in my teens thinking to myself “Wow I see myself in this photo, lil queer fem Latin boy.” This collection is about storytelling. Fabric, textile, and clothing hold a memory, a story, a truth. These stories expand every time you wear them. #neontartan
